Jocelyn Is 3 Months!

Today our little Jocelyn Marie turns 3 months old! She is 9 lbs. 12 oz - quite the little peanut! She is doing well though and is a sweet, happy girl most of the time. She still loves to 'talk' and has seemed more entertained by Sam recently, starting to 'talk' to him. She is just starting to discover her hands, reach for things, and occasionally gets her hands into her mouth.

I wanted to show off this beautiful gift Jocelyn received from her Auntie LaLa (Lauren Molina :) ). I just love all of the fabrics and pattern she chose. It doesn't show up well on a picture, but there is a verse stitched across it, complete with swirly hearts and flowers.

"You make known to me the path of life.
In your presence there is fullness of joy,
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore."
(Psalm 16:11)

What a beautiful verse to wrap Jocelyn in!
May she know fullness of joy!!!

Ch-Ch-Changes

Before I discuss the upcoming changes, let me start with a little catch up for those of you who don't know what the Robbins have been up to in the last year (or five).

We moved from Chattanooga to Minneapolis in 2010 for Chris to complete a four year MDiv program at Bethlehem Seminary. As we neared the end of his program it became increasingly clear to Chris that his desire was not to be in vocational ministry. It was, however, on our hearts to partner in ministry with one of his classmates and hopefully be of some help to them, their family, and ministry. Our friend Dave had been preaching regularly at Sojourners Church, an hour and a half south of the Cities in Albert Lea, MN. Dave more or less 'recruited' us to come and support him and be a part of Sojourners. When God provided a job close by, we joyfully moved in February 2014.

It's been a year of ups and downs. (As most years are.) We transitioned. We experienced owning our first home. We watched Sam grow from a baby to a toddler and Jocelyn was born. Chris has done very well in his job, but the rigor and pace of the job is not sustainable. He's been working 10-12 hour days, with some weekend work meaning 12 day stretches. On his feet, moving, no breaks, lots of stress. As you may have guessed, this leaves little work-life balance. Not much energy left for family, not to mention the vision of preaching or potentially becoming an elder. It's become clear that a better work-life balance is not in Chris' future if he stays with his current job.

So, after a really long year and much deliberation, Chris has decided to take a job that will move us back to the Cities. Specifically the job is in South St. Paul. It seems to be a great situation with a much better balance. We do own our home in Albert Lea, so the amount of time it will take to sell seems like the biggest wild card in the future. For now we will stay put and Chris will commute. We're not sure how long this scenario will work, but it's where we're starting.

We are so thankful for those in Albert Lea and at Sojourners who have embraced our family. We are sad in so many ways to be moving on from the vision of partnering with our friends at Sojourners. We are thankful for your prayers as we are hopeful that this change is God's answer to prayers for the chance to focus on our children and marriage and be involved in the local church.

Sam is TWO!

On March 5, 2015 Sam turned two years old!

                                                             Samuel Anthony Robbins
(A.K.A. Sam Bear, Booger, Little Buddy)

Loves his Dada, Mama, and Jock-a-nyn (Jocelyn). Lover of all things train and any activity involving running! Enjoys reading books, building block towers, painting and playing play dough. Loves to hold hands and pray before meals. Sam gives the sweetest hugs and kisses, especially first thing in the morning and after naps. Does not like to sleep late in the mornings, have his diaper changed, or be still for pictures. Sam is a strong-willed little boy who we pray will grow into a strong man of God. We love this little guy!

Jocelyn Is Two Months!

Jocelyn is two months old today! I adore this little girl. She loves to 'talk' and smile and likes being in her bouncy seat when she's awake. She tolerates big brother and his shenanigans. Jocelyn continues to be a good sleeper and takes naps at home swaddled in her basinet. She survived her first cold and is the only one in the household not to have gotten the stomach flu this month. She's had some more testing done and is on some medication now to help with her airway issues, which, it's hard to tell, but I think are improving slowly but surely. As Chris calls her, she's the 'healthiest sick baby ever.' So many appointments, so few actual issues. Also, she's had enough with this Minnesota winter and is ready to explore the outdoors. (Ok, maybe that's her Mama, but I'm sure she feels it too!)

One Month

Jocelyn's first month of life consisted mainly of sleeping, eating, and doctor's appointments. Thankfully so many of her health concerns have checked out to be total non-issues at this point, and it seems that the doctor's visits will become less frequent. Weight gain was one concern, and at her one month check up she was 7 lbs, 14 oz, at the 12th percentile. She is a tiny little squirt, but we're seeing consistent growth now -- a huge answer to prayer.

So far Jocelyn is a calm and gentle little girl. So, so sweet. She is starting to follow toys with her eyes, and she focuses on faces a little. There are hints of a smile starting that melt my heart. I can usually swaddle her and sing her to sleep in about 30 seconds. She sleeps really well at night, usually waking twice and sometimes only once. Her current list of nicknames includes: Joss, Baby J, Little Baby J, Little Missy, and Nap Buddy. (That last one is for the evenings when Chris snuggles her to sleep while I am caring for The Toddler.)
